To open a file with a specific program using the ribbon in File Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the File: Open File Explorer and browse to the location of the file you want to open.
  2. Select the File: Click once on the file to select it. If you want to open multiple files, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on each file you want to select.
  3. Open the "Open With" Menu: With the file(s) selected, go to the "Home" tab on the ribbon. At the top of the ribbon, you'll see a menu labeled "Open." Click on it.
  4. Choose the Program: In the "Open" menu, you'll see a list of programs that you can use to open the selected file(s). This list may include recommended programs as well as a submenu labeled "Choose another app." If the program you want to use isn't listed, click on "Choose another app" to browse for it.
  5. Select the Program: Click on the program you want to use to open the file. If you're using the "Choose another app" option, navigate to the program's executable file (.exe) and select it.
  6. Open the File: After selecting the program, the file will open using that program.
  7. Set Default Program (Optional): If you want to set the selected program as the default for opening files of this type, check the box that says "Always use this app to open [file type]" before clicking "OK" or "Open."
